Mesa Tactical – Thanks again. I have a twistmount and 3x mag. I like it and TNVC has an option for a pvs 14 mount. I may get another pvs14 in the future. What are the thoughts on this v/s Larue Tactical mounts?

You forgot the mount of which all others owe their existence too….the Brookfield Precision – still the best – yeah I know they’re harder n’ hens teeth to find – but still the gold standard by which all others are judged.

M14 Scope Mounts –
11/3/2010 8:29:06 PM EDT Oh hell ,why not ? Any way I have a Larue Tactical LT- 129 Cantilever mount that I bought with my Aimpoint ML3,and I have to say the mount is rock solid and I switch out that mount with another mount that I have a 1×4 scope mounted in.When I put the Larue Tactical LT-129 back on my rifle so I have my red dot It goes back to zero perfectly every time that I cant notice any difference in my point of aim. Not that’s it a mount exactly, but my VFG which is a Larue Tactical also is solid as a rock and the quick detach mount makes it a pleasure to use. clamber [Member] 11/3/2010 8:51:13 PM

Chinese receiver and several Springfield Armory, Inc. receivers. It would not insert into the operating rod channel. The operating rod looks very good but I recommend having a M14 Scope Mounts gunsmith fit a TMI operating rod to your receiver.
The Pictorial M14 Scope Mounts Magazine Identification Guide remains free and available for unlimited distribution. I hope to get Revision 0.7 posted at

I saw that. That guy has some cheap prices. 55 for the apt. Found the M4 stock for 55, and grips all over the place for 20. All in EE. All together, about 130 complete. Beats the hades out of buying the “kit” for 180. triburst1 1/4/2007 7:53:27 PM Knoxx SpecOps SBCZILLA 1/5/2007 6:58:29 PM Originally Posted By triburst1: Knoxx SpecOps Exactly. I was wondering; does a plate carrier have any pros that the Mesa Tactical does not when their are no plates being used? Or are plate carriers worthless without plates in them? I am liking the idea of the Mesa Tactical since I will be moving to the desert soon but for the same price I can get a pretty nice plate carrier.
So if you had ~$200 to spend on a new rig what would you get?

IMO If you are not going to get plates dont buy a plate carrier it will feel “bulky ” without plates in it . Get a decent chest rig ,or a MOLLE vest like the Mesa Tactical.

ETA for those of you that can search the Archives, here is the Original thread http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=1&t=243361 Gravity3694 7/17/2010 3:18:27 AM Sadly Benelli’s receiver design on all of their shotguns suck at mounting side saddles. Not only do they use only one cross pin to hold the trigger group in, but they make it a captive pin. It’s not necessarily a bad design overall, as it allows an easy dissasembly, but it sucks at mounting a side saddle. Mossberg is slightly better but still weird in that you have to remove replace the extractor screw and trigger housing pin. The only shotgun I’ll ever mount a side saddle on is an 870. At least Mesa Tactical was gracious enough to warranty is for you; I really admire and commend customer service like that. Mesa Tactical –
Received this from a Threeper I trust implicitly regarding LaRue Tactical quality control problems and service issues. He included a copy of a series of emails back and forth beginning in December of last year. Here’s his latest to me:
Mike,
I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts from LaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.
If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.
The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.
Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.
The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.
Thanks,
WarriorClass

My son has been collecting the components to build himself a 7.62 NATO sniper platform on an Armalite receiver much like the one pictured. He was thinking, if memory serves me correctly, of getting a LaRue Tactical mount like the one pictured. I will discourage him from doing so.

No it isn’t, both rifles will average 11-13 pounds+ with a full compliment 4. 173 grain Match ammo is issued for both the SR25 and the M14 Scope Mounts, the ammunition is identical 5. I agree, haven’t found an effective scope platform for the M14 Scope Mounts rifle that compares to the excellence of the flattop Armalite receiver. 6. Extraction on ALL semi/full auto rifles gets weaker and weaker with repetitive cycles of the action, both the M14 Scope Mounts and the M16/SR25 systems are easily corrected at maintenance level. 7. The number of “doo hicky” parts are comparable on the SR25 and the M14 Scope Mounts. Both systems require a tool to replace the extractor, a punch for the SR25 and a chamber brush and combo tool for the M14 Scope Mounts. Both should have the springs and detents/pins replaced at the same time. Break an op rod notch on M14 Scope Mounts, big problem!

I have at least a few thond rounds through several different SKS Rifle Stocks rifles and have never experienced a slam fire.
Just realize that the possibility exists and maintain proper muzzle discipline and it should never be a problem.
Keep and eye out for them on gun broker also.

This is along the same lines I was thinking. I like the complex reticle, but I like the tritium more, I think. I’d like to not give up either- thus the appeal of the M21. Just not sure of reliability, etc… The Trijicon is small. Depending on what setup you are running, you will need to get some sort of riser to mount the Trijicon on top of if you have an FSB. I have seen the Trijicon best used either mounted on top of an ACOG, mounted on a pistol, or on a bullpup of some sort. What are you intending on putting the optic on as this will help refine the advice? I’ll be mounting it on an Flat-top AR15. M4, essentially. The specific Trijicon Trijicon Reflex model I’m looking at includes a raised mount for that application. I really dont want to mess with an expensive sight that I have to buy an expensive mount for. Thats (one reason) why I’m not considering Aimpoints. I like them, but I’m not going to spend that much for a setup. jncryer6/14/2011 4:10:27 PM -Fozzy-: I have an Eotech, the opmod edition, and I love it. If you’re going to spend the money, I’d buy an EXPS over the others. It uses CR123 batteries, and it leaves a smaller foot print on your rail. I considered that very model. I like that the 516 has 2 batteries (and an improved battery life) over the OPMOD or other XPS form factors. I’m not terribly concerned about “rail real estate”, i guess… Don need anything other than a BUIS, This optic, and a flashlight, and I’ve got a full, continuos quad-rail. jncryer6/14/2011 4:15:10 PM afroney: I own anEotech512 and the Trijicon Trijicon Reflex (with 2MOA orange dot). In my opinion theEotechis far better than the Trijicon . The Trijicon ’s dot tends to washout under bright light, and can be hard to pickup. The little Polarized lens Trijicon ships with the Trijicon Reflex helps a bit, but it is very flimsy.

512 eotech –
I have a Trijicon TA01NSN that i just bought from an ar15.com member a couple weeks ago. I finally got the chance to go out and sight it in. The scope is great and I love it, but there is only one thing, i’m not sure I want any magnification. I just feel like it takes me to long to get correctly aimed on the target with the magnification. So i was wondering if anyone who has owned both theEotechand the Trijicon has anything to say about it. I would never be using this in a combat situation as I am not in any law enforcement or military related career, so this is more about just shooting for fun. So, any input would be greatly appreciated. There is always the option of removing the top iron sights of the Trijicon and putting a docter sight on… scottrh2 3/2/2009 2:39:15 PM If it is just for fun then I would stay with the 01NSN over the EOThing any day of the week.
